Located just east of downtown Orlando, Thornton Park is brick lined streets with casual cafes, fine dining, casual and upscale bars, all nestled in an old world setting. Most of the homes are renovated bungalows with a sprinkling of new construction. This is a lovely neighborhood with all of the ammenities of downtown Orlando within walking distance, yet maintaining the charm of the original Orlando homes. Several public parks are nestled among the surrounding streets. The west side of Thornton Park offers Lake Eola, and some of the newer high rise condominiums. Lake Eola has been a city park since 1883, a wonderful spot with the pagoda, playgrounds, and small boat rentals. Every year there are art festivals and open markets around the lake.
